Common Name: Jelutong
Scientific Name: Dyera costulata
Points of Interest:
A tall and prominent tree that is planted in many parks and large gardens.
Its light-coloured timber is not very durable, but it still has some commercial value, being used to produce items like pictures, drawing boards and pencils.
The tree also produces latex that has been used in the production of chewing gum (National Parks Board, 2009) .
There is even a community centre located a few streets away (from MGP) that is named after this tree.
